Darzah: Beyond the stitch

Darzah: Beyond the stitch

As Darzah holds a special place in our hearts, it was vital for us to choose a name which is simple yet impactful. We chose the name "Darzah," meaning "stitch," because we knew it perfectly encapsulated our mission. Our aim is to showcase the art of tatreez, preserving Palestinian cultural heritage and portraying the talents of our artisans.

To ensure our brand conveys our origins and the cultural roots of Palestine, we partnered with the talented Lara Safa to design our meaningful logo, a representation of our artisans and Palestine itself. The logo prominently features the word "Darzah" in Arabic, complemented by two significant additions; the Olive Stem and an Orange, which can also be interpreted as a Sun.

The olive tree symbolises a deep connection to the past, linking Palestinian people with their ancestors. The annual olive harvest is a celebration of tradition, heritage, and resilience. Olives, woven into various forms, serve as a constant reminder of deep cultural roots. You can read more about olives here:

In our logo, the sun, bathed in the shade of the iconic Jaffa Orange, represents Palestine's vibrant landscape. Shamouti oranges, cultivated along the Mediterranean coast, were historically known as "Jaffa Oranges" and played a pivotal role in the region's economic history. Symbolising resilience during the War of Independence, these oranges became renowned for their sweetness and easy peelability, representing an ideal snacking orange.

The soft olive hue, aptly named "Storm Dust," represents the olive, while the vibrant "Fire Bush'' orange mirrors the sun and the oranges. All other colours are carefully selected to symbolise the various elements depicting the rich tapestry of Palestine. This ensures that Darzah’s brand identity carries a story of cultural significance woven with meaningful colours.
